Hugh Farrelly

Managing Director

Hugh will often be your first point of contact if you are looking to manage an estate. He will work with you to develop the best solution for your estate needs, whether it be the valuation and management of contents or the arrangement of other services to prepare a property for sale. You will also usually see Hugh assisting buyers on Auction Day. Hugh has a broad experience managing national retail businesses such as Priceline, House and Spotlight. In 2011, Hugh and partner Amanda took a step out of the corporate sector to acquire the Abbeys Auctions business. Hugh is passionate about delivering our customers the highest level of professional service at Abbeys Auctions. He believes that buying and selling at auction should be a fun and rewarding experience for everyone.

David West

Auctioneer & Valuer

 

With more than 35 years experience in Auctioneering and Valuing, David is an absolute expert in the field. He oversees the daily operations at Abbeys and works closely with both buyers and sellers to ensure they achieve their Auction goals. David also spends time each week visiting clients at their homes, providing expert valuations and advice.

Deon Ashfield

Auction Head coordinator

 

Deon has a diverse background and his depth of practical experience in different fields makes him ideally suited to his role managing the stock and coordination in our Box Hill Auction room. It’s here that most of the stock arrives at Abbeys, often including the weird and the unusual. There is not much he hasn’t seen so he can readily advise buyers and sellers on their items. Deon also leads the webcast team ensuring our weekly live online auctions are broadcast onto the net.

Debra Zammit

Accounts & Customer Service

Debra's main role is to keep the accounts and documents behind the scenes at Abbeys in good order. You'll often see Debra in reception on Thursdays as we prepare the weekly Auction catalogue. In her time away from Abbeys Debra enjoys working in her country garden and house renovating.

Nam Nguyen

Estate Services Coordinator

 

Every week, Abbeys provides estate management services to both solicitors and trustees companies as well as private executors. Nam supports our estate services team with his expert coordination of activities, making sure that our clients assets are managed swiftly and professionally.

Amanda Brook

Director, Estate Services

Amanda leads the Abbeys Estate Services division. With a corporate leadership background in marketing and digital technology Amanda has also been quietly supporting the Abbeys team with improved computing capability including Live online bidding for our weekly auctions. You will also see her on most Auction days helping buyers and supporting our other team members. Amanda also provides business consulting services through her company Quickspace, assisting organisations to effectively manage the challenges of growth and change.

Tom Farrelly

Motor Vehicles specialist

Tom is passionate about cars and brings experience in motor vehicle sales to the Abbeys team. He coordinates all aspects of the auction of motor vehicles at Abbeys, from arranging collection and preparing cars for sale right through to ensuring that all of the paperwork is correctly completed. If you're interested in knowing more about any the vehicles for auction at Abbeys then Tom is here to assist.

Charlotte Whiteoak

Reception

Charlotte manages our office and reception area and is often who you will speak to when calling our business, booking in an appraisal or having furniture collected and delivered. Charlotte aims to ensure all Abbeys buyers and sellers needs are met with a positive outlook. With extensive history in customer service and the travel industry having worked in a number of different countries, Charlotte delivers a professional experience with a smile 🙂 .

John Kloppenburg

Delivery Contractor & Auctioneer

 

John has more than 30 years experience in the Antiques and Auctions industries. After owning their own Antique shop for many years, John and his brother Harry joined the extended Abbeys team to provide transport services. In particular John manages the detailed workload for our large contracted clients such as the State Trustees. You’ll also see John on Auction Day both Auctioneering and assisting buyers with their purchased goods.

Harry Kloppenburg

Delivery Contractor

Harry's knowledge of the industry is also bountiful. Each day Harry services both buyers and sellers, cataloguing and collecting goods for sale or delivering purchases for buyers after the auction.
